GCEX Group, a leading regulated digital prime brokerage, announced the appointment of industry veteran Jonathan Brewer as Chief Revenue Officer (CRO). Brewer’s role will focus on driving growth from institutional and professional clients across all GCEX entities, including the UK, Denmark, and UAE.

Background

Jonathan Brewer brings extensive experience to his new position. As the Co-Founder/Managing Partner of IS Prime and Commercial Director of ISAM Capital Markets, he played a pivotal role in founding, building, and scaling these firms. His career spans over a decade of senior sales and management roles at Goldman Sachs and Sucden Financial, with a focus on e-FX solutions.

Brewer’s track record of success in growing electronic trading businesses and his in-depth understanding of liquidity and technology requirements make him a valuable addition to GCEX Group.

Strategic Importance

Brewer’s appointment comes at a crucial time for GCEX Group. The company faced challenges in 2023 due to what it referred to as the “crypto winter,” resulting in a 48% decline in revenues. However, 2024 has seen a resurgence in crypto trading volumes, and Brewer’s expertise will be instrumental in capitalizing on this momentum.

Bridging Traditional and Digital Assets

GCEX Group stands out for its ability to seamlessly bridge the gap between traditional and digital assets. The company empowers institutional and professional clients to access deep liquidity in CFDs on digital assets and FX, alongside spot trading and conversion of digital assets.

Under its XplorDigital suite, GCEX offers innovative plug-and-play solutions, including “Crypto in a Box” and “Broker in a Box.” These platforms address regulatory requirements while providing safety of funds, tier 1 liquidity, advanced risk management, and connectivity to major price makers.

Lars Holst’s Perspective

Lars Holst, Founder & CEO of GCEX Group, expressed enthusiasm about Jonathan Brewer’s appointment. “Jonathan is very well known and widely respected in our industry, with a reputation for delivering growth and a focus on innovation and market integrity,” said Holst. “His insight, network, and extensive industry and leadership experience will be a huge asset to GCEX. I look forward to working with him to drive our ambitious global growth plans forward.”

Jonathan Brewer’s Outlook

Jonathan Brewer also shared his excitement about joining GCEX Group. “GCEX has a very compelling product makeup,” he said. “As one of the only companies that seamlessly bridges the frontier between traditional and digital assets, I am looking forward to connecting with new and old contacts to generate additional commercial impetus for the GCEX Group. The opportunity to work with Lars, thereby putting together the founders of CFH and IS Prime, the two standout global Prime of Primes of the last 10 years, was too good a chance to pass up.
